Having served Plum Island since 1946, PITA is a non-profit organization of volunteers who help foster a sense of a caring, supportive island community by:

* Staying abreast of political, social and environmental initiatives impacting island life and, when appropriate, advocating the island's interests to outside parties

* Maintaining and renting PITA Hall for meetings and special events

* Communicating relevant island issues and human interest stories in its quarterly newsletter and on its website

* Organizing and/or supporting annual and other island events, like the Christmas Fair or island beautification
